My Favourite Romantic Movie Lines

Februari identik dengan bulan kasih sayang, dalam hal ini mungkin tertuju kepada kekasih. Tentunya tiap orang memiliki romantic movies favorit dan mempunyai lines favorit masing-masing. Ada yang suka dengan Annie Hall dan film-film Woody Allen lainnya. Ada yang suka Titanic, Romeo+Juliet, The Notebook, atau film sejenis yang melodramatik. Ada pula yang suka romantic comedy semacam It Happened One Night, (500) Days of Summer, When Harry Met Sally, etc. Atau bahkan ada yang menganggap yang cukup disturbing semacam Breaking the Waves dan Eyes Wide Shut itu merupakan kategori romantis. Ya, tentunya setiap orang memiliki favorit yang berbeda yang mungkin dipilih karena pengalaman hidupnya.

Berikut adalah 5 romantic movie lines favorit saya :

5. Love Actually (Richard Curtis/UK/2003)

 

Lines:

Cerita favorit saya di Love Actually. Exceptional, bukan dengan kata yang diucapkan, melainkan dengan storyboard.

4. High Fidelity (Stephen Frears/US/2000)

Lines :

Laura: I'm too tired not to be with you.
Rob: What, so if you had a bit more energy we'd stay split up, but things being as they are, with you being wiped out and all, you want to get back together? Is that it?
Laura: Yeah.

Film dengan storytelling yang cukup unik. Sayang tuk dilewatkan.

3. Chungking Express (Wong Kar-wai/HK/1994)

Lines :

# He Zhiwu, Cop 223: We’re all unlucky in love sometimes. When I am, I go jogging. The body loses water when you jog, so you have none left for tears.

# He Zhiwu, Cop 223: If memories could be canned, would they also have expiry dates? If so, I hope they last for centuries.

Lebih menarik cerita yang kedua, namun lebih personal bagi saya cerita yang pertama, termasuk di dalamnya lines ini. Salah satu lines paling puitis dari film yang pernah saya tonton.

Contoh lines puitis lainnya ialah "Every night and every morn, some to misery are born. Every morn and every night, some are born to sweet delight. Some are born to sweet delight; some are born to endless night." -Mr. Nobody at Jarmusch's Dead Man (1995), based on William Blake's Auguries of Innocence-

2. If Only (Gil Junger/US/2004)

Lines :

Melodramatis? Tidak juga menurut saya jika dibandingkan dengan film sejenis yang sudah saya sebut di awal post tadi, lagipula itu merupakan klimaks film ini. Love it & it's very personal for me.

1. Punch-Drunk Love (Paul Thomas Anderson/US/2002)

Lines :

Barry: I have a love in my life. It makes me stronger than anything you can imagine.

Simple lines. Probably best lines from PTA's films. Kalimat penyemangat Barry Egan, saya, atau mungkin juga akan menjadi penyemangat tuk anda? Jika iya, nanti berarti anda termasuk Punch-Drunk Lover.
